Robotics Classes For Kids

Robot is a word which is used from the century back and had seen a very vast development and implementation of them in our day to day life. Generally this word was firstly used in the science fictions to grab the attentions of the people in mass. The word “robot” was first introduced to the public by a Czech writer Carel Karpek in the year 1920.

The field of study concerning with the robots is known as robotics. The word robotics was coined by a science fiction writer Isaac Asimov. He also has given THREE LAWS OF ROBOTICS which are:

Humans have developed machines for their own ease in order to reduce their efforts. Since then in quest of reducing the effort and to get proper accuracy and precision in the work continuous researches and developments were undertaken which lead to the development of robots.

Robots can be defined as any machine which can sense the external environment. The parameters of the environment include light, temperature, force, pressure, touch, color, sound and distance. As the robots were introduced to the public, they gained their popularity and the people get attracted towards them especially the kids. Not only in reducing the human efforts to a great extent the robots also find their uses in the educational field. The basic concept of math and Science can be explained through ease and in a very practical manner. It not only makes the kids to understand the basic concepts of the subject but also maintains the interest and avoids them from getting bored.

There is no learning age for anything but it is always good to start at the earliest. There are many educational robotics kits present in the market. Different number of projects can be made from different robotic kit. ? One of the best educational robotic kits which are present in the market is LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT. In this kit, they demonstrate some of the robotic projects and steps how to give them proper shape and structure. LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT comes with several building block parts which give ease to the user to explore his creativity and to implement it in any design of the robot without having the restriction of the hardware. LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT uses the programming software based on graphical user interface (GUI).

This programming language uses different icons for different functional blocks. Like for move, sensors, delay, math block, etc. there are different iconic blocks.

The programming software itself come with number of robotic projects illustrations in which step by step building instruction and programming steps are given in a very simple manner. But self explanatory things have their own restrictions. Don’t worries RoboGalaxy had launched the robotics classes. The entire course curriculum is divided into three different levels according to the age of the kid. In each of the preceding level the complexity in the building and programming part get increased. This is done so to enhance the logical thinking, creativity, and problem solving skills of the kids.

The first level is concerned with the basic concepts of the robotics to the kids. . Kids themselves mine and explore topics such as lever, pulley, gears, fulcrum, point of action, wheels, etc. through creating and building various mechanisms by educational robotic kit.

The second level is the enhancement in the design and programming of the LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT robotic projects. This level incorporates the use of different types of sensors like light sensor, touch sensor, etc. . Kids learn to design, build and program the robots with computer such that they move, respond and do the specified task. Students get exposure to scientific principles.

The third level is the advanced version including higher design strategies. The complexity of the program does increase and covers all the possible aspects. The robots are inspired from the things which are used in our daily life and some of the industrial robots prototypes. Experience whole new world of engineering and science. Students are challenged to build, program and control their robots accordingly. Learn how to build versatile powered mechanisms and programming skills.
